Hi. Welcome. I’m glad you’re here.
I have been thinking about starting this blog for so long, but recent encouragement from friends and family has propelled me toward action.
This blog will mostly be about travel stories, lessons learned, and reflections on life.
When you read my posts I want it to feel like letters from a friend. Remember those notes you used to write in high school and pass in between classes? Yeah, that’s the vibe here.
Fun Fact: When I first thought about starting a blog, years ago, it was going to be called “The Introverted Educator” because that’s where I was back then. I was going through grad school, working in a 2nd grade classroom and wondering “can I actually cut it as a teacher?”. Turns out, after many years of giving it my best I did change my path…but more on that later.
So…why now?
There are two purposes for publishing my musings for anyone in the world to read.
- I, along with my husband Billy, recently celebrated our first year as full time RV’ers 🎉 and I’ve been wanting a place to share about our travels and adventures. (It’s also a great place to drop photos that need more space than just a square on Instagram.)
- My original plan for starting a blog was to advocate for mental health awareness by sharing my own inner journey. The process of traveling and living life in a new way has been a huge part of my emotional health. Recently, I realized that I simply cannot separate the two by only writing about one and not the other. Now is the time to make it all happen.
My intention with this blog is to share my most honest and reflective self. The messy parts, the fun parts, the scary parts, and the exciting parts.
Maybe you’ll read something that you connect with.
Maybe it will help you to uncover insights about yourself or your life.
Maybe it will make you curious to learn more about something new.
What I’m NOT here to do is tell you how to live your life. I can only speak to my personal experiences. I am not a professional mental health provider.
A Quick Introduction
I’m Lisa, a former early childhood educator turned freelance writer, barista, retail worker, etc.
I’m a deeply reflective person and have always found writing to be an incredibly helpful way for me to process my participation in the world.
I’m passionate about mindfulness and learning all I can about healthy ways to manage stress.
Learning the theories, science, and practice of mindfulness literally changed my life!
Because of this I’ve worked hard over the past few years to strengthen the connection between my mind and body.
I’m also working really hard to create a life that I actually enjoy living. I mean, not just enjoy, but thrive, exude joy, and appreciate every moment along the journey.
I hope that sharing my experience can help support others who might be looking for camaraderie.
Let’s Get This Party Started!
Thanks so much for stopping by. I encourage anyone who reads to leave a comment or start a dialogue.
I hope you find something interesting, inspiring, or something that makes you pause and ponder.
Take care and stay curious!
– Lisa
